Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 500 g whole beef sirloin steak, frozen for 40 minutes before use (well-marbled and tender when cooked)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Cheddar, mozzarella and kashkaval or Monterey Jack
  • Steak sandwich rolls such as French bread, 2 to 3
  • 25 g butter mixed with 1 garlic clove

Method

  1. Split the rolls and spread with the garlic butter.
  2. Take the steak out of the freezer and slice it very thinly.
  3. Toast the rolls butter-side down in a hot pan or grill and set aside.
  4. In the same pan add a little vegetable oil and the onion, cook until caramelized and set aside.
  5. In the same pan over medium heat, cook the steak slices for 5 to 7 minutes, return the onion with the Worcestershire sauce, finish with the cheese, fill the rolls and serve hot.
