Gnocchi with Mushroom Sauce

Ingredients
Gnocchi
- 2 large potatoes, boiled and cooled
- About 1 cup flour
- 1 liter boiling water
- Salt
Sauce
- 1 tbsp flour
- Mushrooms, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 cup water with a dissolved stock cube
- About 1 liter cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 50 g butter
Method
- Mash the boiled potatoes well, add about a tablespoon of salt and the flour and knead by hand into a dough. Divide into balls for easier shaping. Roll each into a long thin rope and cut into equal pieces.
- Let them rest briefly, boil the water and drop in the gnocchi; when they float to the surface they are done. Drain.
- Heat a pan, add the butter, garlic, mushrooms and spices, then the flour and stir. Add the stock water; once it boils and thickens, add the cream and milk, then the gnocchi. Bring to a boil and serve.
Notes
Gnocchi is much like pasta and works with any sauce: tomato and basil, cream, béchamel, or whatever you like.
